Metabolomics describes the analysis and identification of the complement of small molecules (metabolites) in biological systems such as mammals, plants, animals, and microbes. Metabolomics aims to monitor the changes of particular metabolites following genetic or environmental stimuli and those are then used as biomarkers of health, disease and/or quality.
In addition, MA develops new technologies for metabolite analysis and identification, therefore continually establishing new collaborations with research groups throughout the Australian and international biotechnology communities. The five MA nodes possess synergistic technologies and expertise enabling the consortium to offer a far broader range of services to our collaborators.
